HOW TO ENCOURAGE WOMEN IN STEM

As of 2021, women make up around 35% of the STEM workforce in the United States, according to the National Science Foundation. This means that there is a significant gender gap in STEM fields, and efforts to encourage and support women in STEM are important to address this issue.

In honor of Women’s History Month, we’d like to highlight a few local associations and their efforts in fostering technical careers for women in STEM.

Encouragement of women in STEM can be accomplished through a variety of networks, as seen by the associations mentioned above. Also, women in STEM fields can serve as role models for young girls and women who are interested in pursuing STEM careers. Encourage women in STEM to participate in mentorship programs, industry associations, speak at schools, and share their experiences and successes with others.
