Benefits of Using Vacation Days

Whitaker_Benefits Of Using Vacation Days

Spring Break is here for most of the country, and summer vacation is just around the corner! Did you know both employers and employees benefit when workers actually use their vacation days?

According to a recent Forbes article, there are three immediate benefits:
1. It’s a good way to develop leaders within your company;
2. It’s a good way to spot potential trouble spots before they become a crisis; and
3. It’s incredibly good for the mental and physical health of your team members.

The “Wall Street Journal” places the importance on recharging while out of the office. It doesn’t have to be a long vacation, just downtime to boost well-being and relieve stress in order to recharge and focus on your job. (Lucas, S. January 23, 2019)

Another benefit = employee retention and decreased turnover costs. “SHRM said that 78 percent of human resources directors found that team members who took more vacation days reported higher job satisfaction.” (RisePeople.com, April 3, 2018)

We at Whitaker understand and embrace the importance of a healthy work-life balance and encourage you to take advantage of the joint benefits of utilizing vacation days to strengthen teams, increase productivity and innovation, and develop leaders within.
