March 2017: Prepare For A Year With More Interviews

2017 rebound underway?  In our limited view of the overall refining and chemical marketplace, we’ve experienced a very sluggish 2016 that ended with a flurry of mid and high-level management hires. Although it’s not unusual for us to see last minute hires to meet year-end budget requirements, this past fourth quarter was different. Since December this increased sense of hiring urgency has continued.

“If 2016 was the ‘year of tough decisions,’ I’d characterize my outlook for 2017 as ‘the slow road back.’” John England, U.S. Energy & Resources leader and U.S. and Americas Oil & Gas leader, Deloitte LLP.

In light of this now is the time to dust off your skills and prepare for a year with more interviews.

Whether you’re interviewing someone for your company or for your own next professional opportunity, it’s always good to evaluate the questions sets you’re considering. Being prepared will bolster your confidence and prevent that “Rick Perry” moment where you get stuck with an unanticipated question. Check out this article by Richard Harroch “The 40 Most Frequently Asked Job Interview Questions“. Of course we at Whitaker Technical are always here to tap into our over three decades of industry knowledge to help you prepare.
